Hi All
When ever I have told any person who has half a clue that I have a 1987 200 blackmax on my 16" ski boat, they tell me that at some stage the stator is going to go belly up. Well after 8 years of hearing this it has finally happened.

I lost spark on the starboard bank. Swapped ignition modules, no change. Swapped stator wires and the fault moved to the port bank. disconnected every thing, did an ohms check and sure enough I got an "OL" reading.

After hearing a few horror stories about removing the stator I borrowed the appropriate puller and out she came no problems. The part number on the stator reads 398-5454A6. Looked online and there are all sorts of variations to the post fix after the A. Previous experience has told me that the numbers on the end are usually revised/updated parts. Is there any problem fitting a 398-5454A26 or 398-5454A32 or 398-5454A35 or is there a specific part I should have for my particular model, serial number 0B121842?

The name of any good parts suppliers that frieght to Australia would be appreciated as well!

Regards
Graham:confused:

The "A" dash number is not necessarily a revised part. There are variations from the 9 amp system with only one rectifier on th side to a 16 amp system which takes a regulator and a rectifer. You can use a 398-5454-A7 but there are enough variations that some will not work properly and some are 5/8 inch thick and will contact the flywheel. I have 398-5454-A7 units on hand for $199.95 [email protected] or 850-769-9391 Mon-Fri 8am to 3 pm CST Glad to help if we can. See all our parts and services at eagleoneperformance.com
