Started life as a untouched, unsleeved 2.5 block!! Philip Conant, Jimmy Purcell and Tony McCall ported on this motor for prolly 400 plus hrs, all welded up, looks like a frakenstein motor, but had a very nice port job all through out. Phil owned it for years and finally one day we made a deal!! I then bought drag conversion steel liner sleeves!! I installed them and took it to a (obviously) rookie machine shop in deland to have it bored and decked!!! WELL, they broke the block between #5 & #6, so back in the oven it goes and outcome the 2 sleeves, off to Marty Powell for a weld job, btw he is the MAN!!!! So finally I collected all the parts to put it together, top pin pistons, lightweight crank, lightweight wrist pins, 7 petal front half with LASER INJECTION, with an A 63 ecu. finally finished everything saturday about noon. Put some 26 cc heads on with 1.0 mm head gaskets and filled it up with fuel and went to the lake with the ecu set on 113%, broke it in for about 24 gals and turned the ecu down to99% and burned another 10 gallons and skinned it back, with a 180 lb passenger and got 9,100 rpm with a 26 original yammy drag worked by Rich junker with a new 1.87 gear on a 1979 16' action that my dad purchased from barney sr to sell as a dealer, check it out on facebook under my name!!! I love it!!!!:)

How the hell did they bust the block?

Not sure I wasn't there when they did it, but I saw it when I picked it up!!! In the rod slots area it is very thin due to grinding, welding, grinding ect., it had a crack between #5 and #6 crank sealing ring area, but mp fixed it. I'm happy with it so far, gonna put the fluke on it and c how lean I can get it with a 26", then it will be time to spray it with that 130 hp kit, since the tubes r already in the intake!!:)

Lean ain't mean, it's just some broke parts

Yup. Some like more fuel as well. All my Nic drags drop to 9,000 when I loose a cylinder. I'm not against steel liners, but some additional treatment to the liner may be the answer. Long Life and Drag Motor are oximorons.
