Can someone tell me the easy way to shrink my picture size to 1024x1024. I've have all these props, gearcases etc. to sell but the site says the pictures are to big.

Same camera etc. I've been able to post before, can someone help me?

use a photoeditting program, they usually allow you to change dimensions of images.

If your using Windows XP you can download power toys for winXP from Microsoft, then you can right click on any of your pic's and resize them.

460 X 480 will show plenty of detail for a computer screen, and takes much less time to load.

If I'm looking at items for sale, and someone has posted a large, uncompressed image that loads too damned slow, I forget it and move on...

This way you dont need a special program and it works...when u need to make it smaller or bigger...Almsot ALL computers have paint program...open your picture in paint then go to "image" then go to "stretch/skew" then under stretch put in a number under 100 to make it smaller the closer to 100 the less it will decrease in size... then resave it and it will be smaller... you can make them perfect size for the forums or sending on e-mail also for avitars being under 100 by 100 you can make them that small without disturbing th picture.. jsut make sure you put the smae number in both horizontal and vertical...its a easy way to make your pictures smaller without the special programs ... hope this helps

Good idea to save as a jpg too.

PAINT is a terrible program for this purpose. For starters, it badly distorts the image to re-size it. It simply removes every other, 3rd, or 4th row and column of pixels to resize the image, instead of blending it. This results in a terrible image quality. Secondly, most versions of Paint cannot save in JPG format. It usually uses BMP, which writes huge filesizes. The end result is a smaller, lower quality image whose filesize is BIGGER! This is bad.

MGI is another program that distorts images when re-sizing. They often bundle MGI with digital cameras. Don't bother installing it, it sucks. Also, it handles JPG compression very poorly, resulting in large filesizes.

Adobe Photoshop Elements and JASC Paint Shop Pro are good programs for re-sizing.

The whole point of re-sizing images is to reduce the size of the image file (bytes!) For the sake of bandwidth and keeping this site up and running without slow-downs, images should not ever be over 80K file size. Ideally, images should be made even smaller, like 300 X 200, under 25K when the image is not detailed or a wide-angle photo. Set compression at 15-25%, or slightly above medium quality. This can cut filesize in half.

For example, the below photo is less than 12K file size. The image pixel size is only 260 X 224.

i did this in paint .. it saved in jpeg and looks pretty good to me  ... this started out as 600 kb picture at 1800 by 1200 pixel size...now it is 65kb 630 by 420 and its a jpeg and i can make it as small as i want.
