My rebuilt V8 engine is nearing completion and I have now moved on to painting the cowls, mid etc. :D
If anyone has a damaged engine cover they were prepared to cannibalize I have a need for the following. The three black bolt in air vents. I have a 275 engine cover which I am preparing to have painted. I need to find some of the original air vents which come with the 300 GT and 300 XP. These are the vents in either side of the engine cover and the vent/handle at the rear on top, it doubles as a hand hold for engine cover removal. Also the original V8 sign would be a great help.
I also need a replacement engine cover rubber seal. Are these still available new????
Thanks for any help.

I bought a seal about a year ago. From:

I think I learned that, when a Johnson/Evinrude dealer tries to order a part and is told it has to come from the Vintage source, Bombardier actually passes the order on to them. I may have read from a far different souce that they bought up everything for the racing V8s--these guys may be in the business of buying up hard to find old aprts.

I'm pretty sure I have most of the stuff you are looking for. Gimme a couple days to see if I can find it and I will let you know. Only thing I won't have is the seal.

Great, thanks for looking. I have a really nice original Johnson 300GT engine cover but it seems way to nice to butcher.

My mechanic is back at the end of this month, the plan is to have all the other bits and pieces painted and ready for final completion of the assembly on his return. It should be ready to be collected around the 10th of next month. Pics will certainly follow. I've just got to get the boat finished. My wife is away tomorrow so I can see some real time being spent on the boat...........;)

Sea Way is a company that buys up inventory of parts that are NLA or FNLA from the large companys. Possibly the only source for parts other than used.

Alone time with the boat without interruptions. That is certainly the best time to get things accomplished. Looking forward to progress updates.
