Like the title says I'm going to be rigging my 94 21' superboat with a 4" set. Ack hydraulic gorilla jack plate and a 260 with a offshore can. Just looking for some input on what I should be running for a prop and what kind of speed I should see. I was thinking a 26p offshore to start? Any input would be greatly appreciated as I am new I the superboat scene Also Im not sure the height I am going to be running the prop shaft at yet as I ha net mounted the jack plate yet but plan on running it as high as possible

Superboats need a 12" setback to start with and a low water pickup

When I had a 260 on my boat,I ran a 24 et and 8inches of set back, but every boat is different your going to have to experiment a little.Which boat do you have, maybe some pics would be nice

I will be running a sportmaster sorry I didn't mention that earlier. I plan to run the boat offshore a fair amount and from my understanding it will handle better with less set back.

Then I assume you are replacing the OMC with a 2.5 merc 260? 1.87 gearing? You could go 8" like Superbender said and still handle very well plus allow higher engine height to boot !
An offshore, ET or HOSS HPD would be a good start.
Good luck ....it's a great performance boat !
I ran mine to Marths'a vineyard from montauk w/ 2.4 200 merc. so you should have no problem.

Yeah the omc was the first thing to go long gone now...putting a 2.5 260, offshore mid, 1.87 sporty lower with marine machine steering. I have everything minus a new set of gauges and side control. Going to plate the back and run angle on the inside for support.

What are everyones thoughts on just running the jack plate (4" set back) off the transom? Will I end up buying a stainless marine 7" to add to it?

All depends on your boats balance with YOUR setup. So you will tell us after you try it. ;)

I would guess 8" would be a good compromise between top speed and handling in the ruff assuming your transom is in good shape. JMO

If the one on the boat is already a 4" plate, then I would try it first with the intention of going back 8-12" like everyone else said.
The bottom does not have a notch/cutback so you'll probably end up back a ways?
Get some good numbers with what you have & then everyone will be able to help with setup/props.
