Looking at a gearset from a175 hp one has a # 324411 one is 910211 and
one is 323206.The seller says the same gearset fits v4, 150/175 and 200/225.Is this true for '90s and what else exchanges between different gearcases, driveshaft, propshafts, carriers? Thanks and Merry Christmas!

The v4 gears are much smaller. The units have gone through many changes, including gears, shafts, carriers, and housings, what year 175. By those numbers not a late model.

I cann't rermember the year but I think that around 86-88 the Lower unit for the V-4 and the V-6 was the same. Isn't that true?

I beleive it was the 1990 140 OMC had the same prop shaft and gears. I have a set of gears with very low hours from one. It is just a lower gear ratio than my big looper. One way to turn a 28 pitch prop at 6300 and only 70MPH on a 225 Rude..LOL

Bob, I ran into the same thing.A buddy gave me a set of gears he said fit my 200.I didn't have a prop big enough to run them.Turned out to be 2 to 1 gears from a 140.Supposedly they were from a gearcase used on 140's pushing houseboats.

Looks like we both had the same problem. I have the right gears in the bottom end now. But I also have the other set in boxes. I could go just as fast and have the same bottom end punch. Its just The one prop was a 28 Merc Trophy. After I changed gears I got the same results from a 24 Mach Magnum 4 blade(that used to be my ski prop)
