86' 175hp stock... hot?

Went fishing, 8psi on water gauge, about 145degrees. Started up again, water psi was 16, and temp went to about 185degrees.

Got on the step again psi was 16, then I saw it drop to 7-8pis, and running 175's on temp. Whats going on SNF? Poppet? New 143degree thermos! Rebuilt last year! :confused: :eek:

Well, even at 6#s, if U had suffecient water volume , ya mota wouldn't git hot!!...Soooo, I would thank U iz sukk'in air sumwher when ya git on step!!....Check ya water tube for a split, and ya rebber grommet in top ov tha water pump...also check tha gaskets wher ya water pump bolts together...They are under water when idle'in, but on step it's not!!.....

Also git sumbody to drive, and go back to see wher tha water iz runn'in when on plane...make sho tha holes are covered wit water....I had a boat act nutz one time and found out tha bottom ov tha bote haz a chunk gone and wuz make'in tha water ariate at a certian speed, and tha mota would git hot if ya run that speed for any lenght ov time!!....

Kan't see tha popit be'in tha culprit, but may have to change tha spring and see what happens.....I have a few!!
