View Full Version : Mercury Tech 300X oil pump hose routing ???

While freshing up several 300X powerheads, I found two engines with the oil lines running from the electric oil pump to the intake that were not run (point to point) as shown in the factory maintenance mannual. I believe they were factory original engines which makes me wonder if there is a mistake in the factory mannual. Did I miss a bulletin on oil line routing? I don't recall exactly which lines were not run per the mannual. Is there oil injection timing or volume differences that would cause concerns if two of the lines were swapped between the pump and intake? Its hard to believe it would matter as slow as the injection rate is...but. Thanks for any info, Mark

It's not a Gatlin gun that rotates. They batch fire , so any line can go on any barb. Good eye for detail on your part though .. !

Thanks Chaz, I wasn't sure how the pump was configured and wanted to be sure.

I have a 2002 x which doesnt have the routing shown on the manual either.

The Factory Service Mannual I have does show specific point to point routing. It just that a motor I am sure came from the factory was not routed as detailed in the service mannual. It doesn't seem to matter based on Chaz's description of operation.
