Hey guys looking for some input on how to setup my fuel system on my modded 2.4 carb engine. Thinking that I should have a electric pump in the boat with regulator and gauge but some on here say that they keep the stock pump and feed that with the electric as to be able to shut it off during extended idle times due to loading problems and such. Looking for input from those who have experience with this setup.
Thanks Brent

I've had good luck using an Aeromotive bypass regulator and a Bosch pump. I have a pressure gauge at the regulator that I've set at 5 lbs for a modded 2.4. I do not have stock fuel pump on the motor. A system like this will allow you( me) to switch to fuel injected 2.5 at a later time. Pete

I run a 2.4 mod carb. Sence 1978 I have run a holly, with reg set just shy of 5psi.I do not have a engine pump.I run 3/8 Id line, and feed the carbs from the top down.Hi flow inline filter just inside cowling.Shut pump off just before docking, and when you tilt up, fuel will not spill out of carbs.I am on my second pump.however their was a long period of time it was not used but has been very dependable.started with holly blue now running red.

Holley pumps are junk. I have had nothing but problems with them in automotive applications. I went to a Carter comp pump when I built my BP and have never had a problem yet and you dont need a regulator either.
This is what you want.

Or you can spend the extra money and get the marine version. I run the automotive version on my BP with no issues at all.

Nothing wrong with a Holly red or the Holly blue (regulator required ? 5 llbs max) put a good cartridge filter on with a water drain on the bottom and change the cartridge annually.
Worked for me when I ran 2 litres
