It wouldnt pull any more then 5800??? Is the motor on 5cyls or not getting wide open throttle?
I put a 200HO etec on my brothers vector with the 34 it came out of the hole bad with 2 people figured it was because the exhaust was not relieved. Still pulled the 34 5800 before the girl friend started hitting me. Later put it on the computer and found out it was not firing #3 injector  never even tripped the check engine light on the gauge

Something sounds strange.........my Vegas with a 200 OMC Looper will run 82mph, and you have 100hp more....you should be running MUCH faster.
1. What's the pad look like? Is it straight and flat?
2. How high are you running the gear case under/above the pad?
300hp on that boat should be well into the upper 90's I would think ...or even faster.

When you are accellerating, and you hit around 70, does the boat really start to lighten up and fly? It should start packing air and really respond to trim changes.
I know the AE has a different windsheild dynamic than the HST but I would think it would fly similarly. It would be interesting to pull the windsheild and run it.
The lack of significant speed difference with a passenger is concerning...it's like it is not flying but rather pushing through the water.
I agree, it would be great to see a running shot. The whole front of the pad before where is steps up midship should be running high and dry.

I am running 16 inches of setback on HST with a worked 2.4 (about 250 HP) and am hitting 94 with a 28 hoss triton. This is with the saft at about 2 inchs above the pad. What is your water pressure at top speed because if it is still really high you are dragging too much of lower unit in the water and might need to raise it more.

another example how much setback helps these boats. Again my buddys stock 1988 200 Johnson pushes his low 90s with 18in setback.
I wish you were closer I'd let you run my 34 that thing should be running 100+....

Thanks, but luckily I have access to a lot of props to borrow. So I will be trying quite a few this summer.

Your welcome but I was talking to Apex the OP since his boat has that pesky limiter I'm so used to.
