What's the best clean, clear water you've ever ran your boat in?

In Northern Michigan, we've got some nice, spring-fed lakes with crystal-clear water and sandy bottoms. Torch Lake has been voted one of the most beautiful lakes in the world several times.

Here's my boat on Higgins Lake this past weekend... :)

CLEAR WATER??!!.....WHATS THAT?.....

In my river, you will be lucky to see your feet if they are handing over the side of the boat.....

(Its not called the "Tar River" for nothing).....

It gets a little more clear in the winter when other boats aren't stirring in up so bad....but its brown water....it gets it color from all the decaying leaves and vegitation... and swamp marsh....

The upper Keys outer reef line from Fowey Rock to Ceasars Creek. When the ocean lays down flat you can run south from Fowey Rock along the reef line and see the bottom 15'-30' down, crystal clear full of coral, fish, sea fans, sponges, etc.

The clearest, the Keys out near the Marquesas, unbelievable.

Lake winnipesaukee, NH (1988)

Lake Cumberland , KY (1990) You go back in some of the coves, there are waterfalls . Dont know what its like today, but back then, you could go back in a cove and not see anybody all day. Of course, Party Cove is very public:smiletest: with great scenery:cool:

Lake George,NY I remember scuba diving there years ago and when you get dry mouth from tank air just take a drink of the lake water. Never got sick. Many property owners use the lake water for there house water.

How cool is that I figured no one would know where I was talking about. our house was in the same cove as the city dock. The Atwell place large lot with a large block home and large two boat garage. That water was special you could go down there with say a cut on ya and the following week after swiming the cut would be heald up. some great times where spent there and the fishing was always good. Hemi where was yaws place.

South China Sea In South East Asia!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Visibility is 60 to 100 feet on any given day. Except after a Typhoon. There have been several times we have dove the reef walls at the Jupiter Cut in WP Beach and had close to 100' visibility due to the Gulfstream flow. Sometimes it is less than 20' though.

Ha ! Dad says it was super clear in Okinawa in '44 !!

Our water here in west florida is crystal clear like the Bahamas around Tarpon springs north . Really amazing ..but nothing like floating the STV around the Suwanee River !! No muddy crap just clear water and some flying Sturgeon in the spring and summer !!

Gotta second Sacandaga. Lake George is really clean but there's too many rules and regulations there. Been in Lake Michigan a few times when we went to Silver Lake Dunes with the ATV's but never boated there. Water was super clean, probably clearer than George or Sacandaga.

The lake where I live you can see your feet if you're in up to your neck but they ain't too clear.

You guys from around the keys got it GREAT.But me being one of those northern boys just can't get jacked up over the salt water. My vote has to go to Tobomory Canada Lake Huron.Easy to watch a quarter land fourty feet under your boat.

Fresh water is about 4 miles from the house salt is about 1.5. The lake is not as clear as the salt but there is always somewhere to run on the lake even if the wind is blowing
