View Full Version : number 6 lean out @&$%#~€£
So number 6 leaned out burned up on my 2000 225 Promax. I changed from a 260 to a Promax for user friendlyness and reliability. This powerhead has about 5 hours on it. Now what? Repair it and wait for it to happen again? Would my luck and fuel usage be way better with a 175 Pro XS? I run this on a STV Euroski and top speed is not that important to me. 85-95 mph is OK. I REALLY like the Promax when it was running, I just dont want to throw good money after bad. I dont want to hang anything heavier than a 2.5 on her. Any input?

Stay with your current setup Brian. You just had some bad luck to hurt your 225PM so quick. They're normally bulletproof motors. You have the perfect combination right now...........

I agree with the PM being an awesome motor and when setup right are usually bullet proof! It is key to make sure everything is correct though. They can be built with the best parts and builder $$ can buy but if the temp, timing, water press etc are not right it will destroy it self just like any motor. JMPO.
Also make sure the fuel is fresh, injectors and VST have been serviced! GL
