My name is Chris Comer, I'm the son of Ricky Comer who owned Georgetown Boat and Motors, designed and raced boats. I have always been highly interested in learning everything about boats, which is why I'm here. I live in Oklahoma City and am looking for anyone in the area that may be interested in teaching me the ropes. I'm not looking for a job or getting paid, just looking to learn.

I'm also near Tulsa in Broken Arrow. I can say that this site & the Members of, have helped me out beyond what I ever expected! I got into the O/B "go-fast" world last year... It WILL become an addiction, but a GOOD one @ that!!!

Thanks for the reply, I'm looking to learn all the basics. I know I can read everything I need to online or in a book but I'm a very hands on person. I'm majoring in aerospace eng studying dynamics and propulsion, and currently work on planes but I've always wanted to learn boats but the shops around Georgetown wouldnt take me in.

how old are you? are there boat dealerships near you? if so go hang out, maby help. most independent shops can take on a good young man as a helper and maby get a part time job. the junior college here has a course on marine repair, and a lab you can go work on your own project. start diggin around, if you want it bad enough, you'll find it. fun out

I'm 23 and I tried to go to a local shop by my house, but they said right now they are too busy to try and get someone in. I'm planning on going to a couple more shops, and I'm sure someone will allow me to come and get my hands dirty and thought that there might be someone on here that might be needing some free help around here. Just got to get my foot in the door then it's on

I knew your Dad and raced with him for years. We had many laughs. When i would win he would tell me "OK, Now it`s my turn".

That's good to see the memories are still going on and so many people have tons of stories all the time about him. Thanks Bobby

Welcome aboard
To say i raced against your dad would be a stretch. but i was on the course with him 3 or 4 times in around '90 or so.(That was the extent of my Mod-vp experiment) I only met him a couple of times.
All I ever saw was the back of his boat and his spray in my face. A very talentend racer and boat builder taken way too soon.
I think I remember seeing you. Seems like you were about 4 or 5 years old blonde headed with glasses?
