Anyone going to the bay city river roar?? I tried to find a marina where i could dock the boat and see the race but no luck. If someone from the area has any ideas let me know. If you have never attended a champ boat race do yourself a favor and go. It is incredible. I talked to the organizers and they already had 12 champ boats registerd and were expecting more. They are also running sst 120 class and the lights class. For info just do a search of bay city river roar

First time I'll miss it since it started, the OPA has an offshore race here in Tawas this weekend. 12 boats :/, I remember the days of 25+ boats for the champ class. It's a hell of a race and an awesome venue. Just go to Vets park and watch from there, beer tent, food, open pits, boobs, etc.

I have been to the race on and off for about 15 years and always have had a great time. 12 boats were registered about 3 weeks ago so i hope they had a few more entries. The mod VP class was the greatest racing they had there. Do you recall the year al stoker killed his OMC in a mishap wiyh what I recallwas the kill switch? he was lapped by most of the mercs , got the rig restarted and damn near still won the race. Good times!!

I was hoping to get a slip at the marina right by hooters at turn 4. No luck so I guess its back to vets park. I still would like to do some boating in the bay city area sometime. Any suggestions on where to go?

I'm going on Saturday. If you bring a non perishable can good you get in free at the west side where the pits are. They are near the Hooters. Sorry you can't make it Capt!! Hope your foot is better.
