lookin to buy a 1992 velocity with a 225 yamaha . Prop is a 21 pitch stock yamaha wheel..he claims 70 mph..with this setup ..What do you think?
Of course it will do 70 as long as that yammy is turning 13000 RPM or so

With the right speedometer, maybe. On GPS, sounds a bit optimistic for a 21" pitch stock prop. For instance, I'm turning a 27" pitch Yamaha prop (worked and labbed by Bblades) 6,300 RPMs and running 76.7 on GPS. My hull is significantly lighter though.

i have an 1986 model i am making into an outboard and have been told a 225 yami will push it to 70 plus how can a merc 225 push it to 84 mph but a yami is 20 mph slower i will be looking for merc power for mine but this just does not make sense to me is'nt 225 hp the same or does this have to do with rpm thanks in advance i have had a I/O for the last 10 years before that i had a 23.5 eliminator with twin bridgeports and loved it
