This may not be the right place for this post but I want every boater out there to be educated in every way before they enter the water ways behind the wheel of a boat. I am very sorry to say that my sweet wife lost her life last Sunday
due to an uneducated boater 19 years of age that had no expierience with any boat which purchased a Tahoe I/O on Friday and at the river on Sunday didn't know which side of the river he was supposed to be driving on came around a curve on the wrong side and collided with the Hydrostream Vegas we were in taking her life and severely injuring the rest of us in the boat. Carol was only 51 years old and loved boating with me like nothing else, life will not be the same without her.

Sorry for your lost. I have sold boats for the last 16 years and also try to educate the buyer on

sorry for your loss ,what is it with these on coming clowns going to the right ,jet skies also they drive like butter flies all over the place ,i have had to get out of the way many times ,and close calls that i care to not mention but i do chase them down and let them know ,seems defensive boating is worse than auto ,some times these jack wads just like to get close to a perf boat for what reason i dont care ,then its too close ,i have on occasion boat load of family chase me around only to almost crash into me or some one else when i slow to idling in channel or no wake cause they had to catch up ,hey nice boat , thanks you almost hit me ,na not even close there reply. on our chain we had a 16 year old take dads bass boat out and crash into a pontoon boat killing 2 , 16 year old minor injuries .

Hey Raymond,

Sorry for your lose of Carol, always a sweet girl.
Hope your recovery goes ok.
I put up a prayer notice on here Monday, had a lot of prayers for all that was involved.

I know what my dad has gone through, having lost my mom to a heart attack at 62. Can't imagine losing a wife at 51 over something like this. Prayers for all of you.

I can't even pretend to think I know how much pain you must be in both physically and emotionally. Your loss is both tragic and completely unwarranted. I like to think most of us are safe high performance boaters, but all it takes is one careless moment - even by one of us - and this is what can happen.

If any good can come of this tragedy, maybe somebody will read this post and think about it next time they go out on the water. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

So sad to hear of your loss. Tragic. If it's any consolation I can sorta feel your pain. My ex passed away a couple weeks ago at the ripe old age of 43. But hers was due to self destruction. Considering your wife's was not I'd be mad as hell and looking for payback! Hang in there.

When I was launching my boat a couple of weeks ago, I was next in line to launch behind 3 guys with a brand new deckboat. I watched them struggle with it and became impatient, not wanting to be late for the race. I made the decision to tell them "That the boat won't launch off the trailer unless you pull it out of the water and remove the tie-down straps holding it to the trailer". They thanked me and admitted they knew nothing about boats. I wondered if I had made a fatal mistake....

It's so sad to hear about this ..... a needless death by someone that doesn't have any idea about driving a boat.

Here's one for you......
A few years back, I was cruising slowly down the river (wide river, all kinds of room) on the "wrong" side ..... not another boat in site.....
Up the river comes a runabout on the other side, very far away.... He was on the "wrong" side....... I noticed him immediately & kept an eye on him......
All of a sudden, he makes a dramatic turn across the river and heads directly towards me & I know what's going on.....
He suddenly realized I was there and was bound and determined to pass me on the right side!!!!!!......
Problem was ....... NOT ENOUGH ROOM BETWEEN ME AND THE BANK!!!!!!! :eek:
So I made a tight turn to the right so we could "pass" each other in a lawful manner......

I don't know what would've happened if I'd held my course? :nonod:

Normally, we both would've held our course and passed each other and had a non-event.

I know this doesn't help with your situation, but thought I'd post a story about someone taking a safe
event and making it dangerous by "following the law".
I guess if we had crashed, it would've been my fault for being on the "wrong" side of the river?:confused:

It breaks my heart to hear about this. I'm so sorry for your loss. I think this hits home for many of us since we've all taken the wife and kids out on the water to relax and escape everyday life. If there is anything I/we can do to help please let us know.

Thanks for all reply's and prayers as I am having a hard time as we were having the time of our lives never thinking of anything like this happening. She loved going to the river as much or more than I and she will be with me in every thing I do for the rest of my life.
