Im buying a 1982 Superboat. If anyone has any recomendations on what to look for please feel free. I am jumping to the other side. I usually run old Boston Whalers with 90 hp. So this should be interesting for me. I plan on powering it with a complete rebuilt 1996 225 Evinrude Vindicator. The motor is running me $3000. I am going with that motor because the boat is rigged for that. Any tips please feel free!

What do you think the whole package turn key will cost when done?

Paying 5,000 for hull and approx 3000 for motor.

Trailer included? Interior? Rigging? The reason I am asking is that I built a similar boat, and it always seems to cost more in the long run to piece one together than to just buy a turn key boat.

Check the core on deck and hull
inspect transom
has fuel tank been changed, it will need to be if not
floor, solid?

I saw the boat listed on Craig's list.... Baby blue hull sides white deck, I know I've seen picks of it somewhere on here.
Claim is the motor was off boat and recently rebuilt at outboard barn

Pretty boat!

3k for a rebuild they better use all new parts, especially pistons the factory pistons are known for puking locator pins otherwise they are great motors.

Yeah...thats the boat. For my budget I figured it was a good deal. Its not easy because the trailer is shot and now I am looking for a trailer and it is not working out. The only way I can pull this boat from the owner is get a trailer first. Then I can get motor dropped on. Seems like a impossible task so far.

Why...whats up with the fuel tanks on these boats?

Trailer is shot and I am scrabbling to find one so I can pull boat. Thes interior is in good condition. As for the rigging that is included in the price of 3,000.

Brabender is correct on the tank and core.
In the early 80's they were not using core material under the tank and they would crack in the center from flexing. I had an 81 and that was exactly what we found.
One of the ways to tell but only if it has fuel is check around the fill pipe on the tank, there will be fuel bleeding from under the glass around it. You may also have fuel coming out under the tank in the beilge. IMPO, Make sure to have someone with experience give it a good inspection for you.
GL either way, looks like a clean boat from the pic's.

Another reason I asked all those questions, is I am sorta trying to sell mine but not pushing it real hard, you could have a Pantera complete turn key ready to run on the trailer.

That does look like a nice boat, I didnt realize it wa a 21, guess I just saw superboat and figured 24. Looks like he'll be into it for aroun $10000 by the time he puts a decent railer under it.

All good advice above. Only thing I would also recommend is find a bunk trailer.

Good luck with the Super !

Thanks,

like I said, I thought you were looking for a 24, I can flex on the price a bit, but by the time you get it up from FL it would cost a bit.
