79 johnson 55 looper help!

alright here it is. i have a 1979 johnson 55 two cylinder. i spun a rod bearing thsi weekend and started looking for parts. When i started looking for parts i noticed it was listed separately form all the other 2 cylinder 40-60 i found. i noticed to begin with the motor had around 155psi on both cylinders and it appeared as to be afctory from what i can tell. then i took it appart and noticed it had a bell tuner on the exhaust and a 12in mid section. well a racing buddy of mine came and looked at it and said the block casting # were the same as his 45ss. last digits were 100 or something like that. can anyone tell me what i have an who to talk to? wanna build a little more power but this isnt like and 2 cylinder 40 or 50 ive ever messed with and ive run several. any help would be much appreciated

the model is a 55974c. i hope that helps. i dont have a picture but the motor was solid white with a red patch an a 55 on it. no markings that stood out to me.
