Had to make the dreaded visit to renew my DL today... Friday = bad idea! 45 min later I was happy to hear that Florida
now offers veterans the option to put a " V " on your DL. Just show them a copy of your DD214 and your good to go.
The idea behind it is so vet's who have been honorably discharged can easily show " proof" of military service with out having
to carry around copies of discharge papers. A $1.00 fee applies... I was happy to pay it! Old news probably but I just found out about it, thought I would pass it on.

I also, never realized the " gold star" on a FL license meant anything.... but apparently it does. No need to bring in all the ID,s passport, birth cert, SS card, proofs of address , ect ect. Just your DL with a GOLD star and your good.

You have to have "Raised Seal" certified copies of your birth certificate and if your name has ever changed, like a woman getting married, raised seal copies of all marriage licenses. My Wife had Certified copies of her BC and ML but not raised seal copies so we spent $150 just getting all the documents. I was in the DL office when they told an AA lady who had been married 8 times, she had to get all 8 marriage licenses with a raised seal. She started screaming...
