I just had to post this because of going through boating withdrawls up here in Maine. After 22 years in FL I have been up here for 4 years now and haven't even put my boat in the water since I have been here. I see some of the guys down there in FL are still running out to Silver Glen on the weekends. I sure do miss that. Maybe this will be the year that I finally get it back into the water again. It's just all these horror stories I hear about rocks the size of house's just under the water surface that have no mercy on props and lower units that keeps me out of the water here. I have a friend here that doubts my boat will run over 70mph so I think I am going to have to put it in the water this year just to show him that not everybody that lives around here has fishing boats that can barely get on plane. They seem to think here that the jet skis are the fastest things on the water around here. Guess I have a point to prove that not everybody that lives in Maine has slow boats. Anyways, I just had to get this off my chest and let you guys know that I use to see at the Glen and out on East lake in St. Cloud that I still am alive and well and hopefully this Summer will be back in the boat again. The 120+mph snowmobiles have kept my need for speed alive for the last few years here but I think it is time to get back out in the water and air out the Vector. :D

Yeah I am up here quite aways from sunny warm FL. It's over 1500 miles from where i was in FL. I am just a few miles from the most North Eastern part of the US. They call it Gods country but it is in the middle of no where here.

Are the lakes real rocky in NH too?

I have considered running the river here but with 25ft tides you have to go out just before high tide and come back just after so that only gives you about 3 or 4 hours to get back before the water drops so low that you run the same risk of hitting rocks.

I feel your pain...I went back to Cleveland for one year and it was all I could take. I've been back in Florida for many years and don't plan on leaving again.

Sebago lake is good. It's plenty deep (300 feet). There are rocks, but almost all of them are marked, and they are few and far between. That being said, I did hit one last year (unmarked) but that's the first and I've boated on that lake on and off for 30 years. But it's pretty far from you.... If I lived where you do, and I had a big enough boat, I would be tempted to head for the Bay of Fundy. Even if the river is too shallow, I think it's only about a 6 mile trip on the trailer.

That's about right. When I got towed up to a nearby beach after hitting the rock, I saw the person that managed the property. I told the manager that I think I hit an unmarked rock and would it be okay to leave my boat on the beach and come back with my trailer. The manager asked, "Did you hit the unmarked rock, or did you hit the sunken wreck of the last boat that hit the rock?"

Thats the kind of marker i dont want to find. And that probably is a real picture too with the tides here.

I have this one guy that lives down the street from me that has always been bugging me about racing him. He has a 150 on his nitro and I guess he thinks its the fastest thing around here. Guess I need to take him for a run someday.

Mike, you said you'd moved about four years ago? I must've missed it. Are you still in the marine industry?

I would love to make the trip but I need to get the boat ready since it hasnt moved off the trailer in a few years. It is hard getting time off that I dont have scheduled off, especially during the Summer months.

We are short handed right now and it's only going to get worse this summer. We are almost always on minimum staff. They are even considering reniging on our scheduled vaction time since we will be even worse once everybody starts taking vacations. Isn't the Government wonderful? :reddevil:
