Had heard and read of these: 500cc Konig powered motorcycles from 1971. Finished 2nd in the World Championships in 1973.
Note: The Driver of the Konig Powered entry--Kim Newcombe, was killed in an accident that day in Silverstone England. That practically ended Konig's involvement with the Motorcycle Program.
Would really like to see the engine in place with the cowlings removed. Thanks to Eric Pugh fro the pics.

Pic #3--500cc VC square block Konig--Note the cooling tubes for the rad. The other side of the older "Square Block" design, had roughed in water jackets on the outside of the case too. I heard these were utilized when Konigs were used in carts or small cars.

Yes, something DOES look different about this engine too. Notice that both the exaust and rotary valve are on the same side. Dieter Konig was a master of innovation!!

Those square blocks had the area for the rotary valve cast on both sides if you remember. I remember someone using two disc valves on an outboard long ago, Kirts, Westbrook, Baldwin?.

Oclassracer, it seems you and I have been at some of the same races this year. The picture you posted of Curt and John Stevens with the 125 was taken about 2 pit spaces down from ours at Depue.

The last twin valve Konigs I saw were built by the Kirts Clan. Remember Mel's 1100ccH??

Remember Neil LaRose's twin valve 350cc Yamato?
