so I've got 3 v4 crossflows and two boats to hang them on. right now my spare engine is on a car engine stand--which pretty much sucks and is awkward. can someone recommend something that is actually made for this? and how much do they cost?

Using the search bar in upper right, lotta eng stand info there also if your car motor one is a 3 wheeler your better with a 4 wheeler to put an o/b on, cause they are top heavy. I like the fold up ones, check both www.northerntool.com (http://www.northerntool.com) and www.harborfreight.com (http://www.harborfreight.com). Good luck.

For about $50 you can go to Home Depot and get enough materials for 2 stands if you have the time. I do have one I purchased from Harbor Freight though that worked well.

Yep, what he said...mine is WAY over-engineered and could hold a Johnson V-8 but the peace of mind was worth it. I think I have about $90 into it, including the steel casters. One thing to be careful of is the height of the rear bottom cross-brace. Make sure that your hoist can lift the motor high enough to get the skeg up and over it to take it on and off the stand.

I bought this one (315) It was $110 shipped and works well with my V4. I can't remember exactly but I think I bought through their eBay store for free shipping. http://www.discountramps.com/outboard-motor-carts.htm

I've been buying the movers dollies from Northern Tool for about $15. They are wood with 4 casters and come in different sizes.
Rated for 1000 lbs.
You cant buy the casters for as cheap as they sell them.
Theyre perfect for powerheads and a complete v4 or v6 crossflow with an old throwaway cowling balances nicely upside down. They roll around super easy
The ones I looked at @ Harbor freight seemed like the wheels were softer so I doubt they would roll as good
Or you could just buy more boats to hang them on:p
