Okay so a guy looked at my 225 ProMax and told me I should replace my fuel line. Specifically the one which begins inside the cowling at an inline fuel filter I have. Then the lines that continue over the block from the pump to the filter on the opposite side (big white one) and the lines that run back over to the injectors. He said I should use the 3/8th's line and get the Blue EFI line from an auto parts store because the other stuff erodes from the ethanol. It currently has the black rubber tubing and the greyish looking stuff from the filter to the pump. Any ideas?

Also, I was considering trying to find new fuel line in Yellow. My spark plug wires are yellow and there are a few other yellow things inside the wiring so I figured it would look kinda trick. But if not, maybe I will try to find some yellow wiring loom and just zip tie it on the new fuel line. Thanks.

The best fuel line is Tygon (spelling?) it happens to be yellowish. We used colored fuel line for a few seasons racing karts but it turns hard and brittle very quickly.

So what would be the best fuel line that won't turn to junk. Regardless of color.

You can't put Tygon on EFI High pressure lines!

Also, in general, unless it's going from carb to carb, or other places it's securely mounted on both ends, it's not a good idea for fuel line.

Auto parts stores have Goodyear brand 90psi rated fuel line that has a blue sleeve inside of it. Works great.

I have a call into Sierra/Teleflex to find out if the new 4000 fuel line they have is pressure rated, and would be suitable for hi-po EFI systems. I am also looking for fuel line to go from a boat mounted Bosch fuel pump to my "convered from VST" EFI motor. I know the pressure reg is set-up at 39 psi, so I would assume we should be looking for at least double that to be safe! I am planning on running 3/8 feed and 5/16 return. I will let you know what they say. I am thinking it may not be enough.
Btw, its grey in color.

I went by NAPA and AUTOZONE and neither of them carry Goodyear Fuel line. :nonod:

O.K. here is the skinny on the Sierra hose.
The new 4000 hose is NOT suitable for EFI, its only rated for 35 psi. Thats the grey stuff. Its also NOT rated for "below deck" use.

Sierra offers a "low permeation marine fuel hose", #368 or type A, that is rated for below deck use and its also rated for 100psi. Good for EFI Fuel systems. I am going to try some of that. At least its legal marine use below deck hose.

Its black though.

Im not concerned with color anymore. Just want something that won't turn to junk from ethanol. You should ask for a sample and drop apiece into a cup of fuel and see what it does after a day or two.

The Sierra 368 USCG Type A1 is made for ethanol blends up to E-85.
Here is the link for the data sheet. http://www.teleflexmarine.com/products/hose/fuel/series368/

It also has a lifetime warranty. Its designed for Marine use, below decks as a fuel feed hose.

Thats what I am going with. You have to be careful with fuel line not designed for Marine use. USCG will frown upon it, and if something ever happens, any insurance co. will blame the non marine fuel line.
I have a 10' piece of 3/8 on the way. It comes in 10',25',50' and 250' lengths........ 5/16", 3/8" and 1/2" diam.

I am also working on my fuel system, and I gotta say this has been a very frustrating endeavor to find ends and hoses that look good and work together. Racor is close, have yet to find a company that can afford to keep ALL of their ends in stock tho, and their ends do not look as pretty in real life as they do in their website pictures (I don't want hose clamps, I want it to look finished). I have been working on this for at least a month now and I am still waiting for parts.

I just ordered a chunk of that teleflex hose so if it works with my Aeromotive ends, I think I have found a solution. I wanted the blue hose, but it just is not going to happen.

:iagree:

Yep, thats the same stuff I have. Its the same that Sierra/Teleflex sells. Says "Shields" right on the hose.
It seems to be good stuff, but its not exactly on the cheap side. MSRP for the 10' x 3/8 hose package is $58.49 !!!!

Got my new blue line today from aeroquip. Should i flush it first to get out any small pieces from the ends they cut? If so, is water okay to use and let it dry really good?

I just blew mine out with compressed air. That should get them pretty clean.

Ok. Do i need to relieve the fuel pressure in the lines before disconnecting? If so,how?

Sometimes I ask myself what the.....
I'm on the board .
If you a question I would answer it for you
And yes I have it all in stock , and why would you use water to flush out your fuel hose ?

Was asking because of possibility of one of the tiny pieces of rubber from where the hose was cut maybe getting into one of the injectors. Im no expert on this stuff and I've already blown up one motor so i figure it can't hurt to ask instead of making an expensive mistake. I have a bad habit of breaking everything i touch. Can't afford another $3500 mistake.
