I would like to find out what is the proper way to adjust the carbs on my 200 hp merc. It seems to have a little skip or miss at idle. All carbs have been cleaned and inspected floats are positioning correctly. The engine seems to be running a little hot while running on a flush hose. I have put on a new water pump and rebuilt the high pressure pump new plugs too. I have also put in two new thermostats.

You are going to need access to or own a Carb Sync.

Best way to adjust carbs is at idle, in gear sitting at the dock...I always do it this way for it to be most accurate.. I set them up for best idle quality and than slightly richer to make sure it won't stumble when mashing the throttle down hard...each carb will have it's own sweet spot... keep in mind that the on the carbs each barrell feeds the opposite cylinder on the 200h.p. motor... good luck
