I have a 2003 Paramount with a 2003 Yamaha VMAX 200 and Yamaha electronic gauges. I can never seem to fill the tank without shooting fuel out of the air vent. The most I can put in is 28 gallons even when the gauge reads one bar. Is there a trick to fueling this boat. One day I actually took 20 minutes to fuel and got it to take 28 gallons. When I pulled out of the gas station fuel shot out of the air vent for the first few blocks. Are the Yamaha electronic LED fuel gauges historically reliable?
Thanks
Tom
you probably have a 35-40 gal tank

Hmmm,? Mine has a 72 gallon tank and she fills up properly. Are you filling up at a marina on the water? Or while it's on a trailer? If you are on a trailer, make sure it's not sitting with the bow tilting down. If the tow vehicle sits low and causes the boat to pitch toward the bow while on the trailer then the fuel tank wouldn't fill due to the pitch.

Its possible your gauge is not set right or your sending unit is not reading properly. I have a 92 Paramount and have no issues filling it.

Someone else told me about the pitch of the boat. I have been filling on the trailer. Going to make sure that it is level next time and check to see if that helps. Thanks for the replies. Anyone know what size tanks they were putting in Paramounts in 2003. I have seen people mention 40, 50 , 70.
Thanks for all the info

Mine is '97, can't imagine you've got anything smaller than a 60gallon tank. The fuel coming out of the vent really makes me think it's the pitch while it's on the tow vehicle. Have you ever noticed any fuel coming out of the vent while in the water? If not, I'd bet good money it's the pitch scenario. You could just get a hitch receiver that has a few inches of rise to it at any trailer supply spot. Hope that's all it is. Would be the most simple/best resolution.

Mine fills fine also. Pull your sender and see how much is actually in the tank.

Thanks for the info going to check this weekend. Baja, did you ever finish the bottom of your Paramount? If so, what type of speed did you get from taking the hook out.
Thanks again

Removing the wedge helped a bit but since the whole bottom is a hook it is still limited. I have had 13 motors on it in a year, its the test boat and party barge. The only thing I do for setup is put the cooler in the back and pile 5+ people in it every weekend :D

Mine rides out pretty good. It will run 58 - 60 every day with the 200 VMAX, the seat in the rear and 12 inch stainless bracket may help. I may take the T Top off to see if it gains a few but I have not figured it out yet. My nephews rag me about my boat being a pig since they drive 18 Actions. But the boat just seems to ride, tube, ski and board great. I was just curious if you could ever hit those magic 21 Action Center Console numbers.

Going to do this next week. I want to compare angle of my current set up and see whether it is too high or to low and causing a problem while fueling. I have not hooked it up for a couple of weeks now.

Mines an '07 and came with a 52 gallon tank. The issue your having sounds like the angle on the trailer (its happened to me).

I think it must be the angle. I misunderstood the earlier comments. I thought that I had to have more of a level angle of the boat. I believe now that my bow is too low on the trailer. I have a hitch with about a 4 inch drop and drive a 4 x 4 Lexus. I am going to go to a standard hitch and see if that changes things. That will actually raise the bow a hair.
TIA

Betcha thats the solution. Now your gonna be shocked how much it REALLY costs to fill that tank up, lol. Damn fuel prices!

Ok. Today I put a hitch on that is almost level if used one way and provides a 2 inch rise if you mount it the other way. The boat took almost 20 gallons of gas. The tank was almost 3/4 full before spitting. Going to try the hitch with a 2 inch rise and see if that cures it completely. Someone told me it is better to have a slight upward angle while filling. Something about the baffles. Either way, I am happy to be able to fill it 3/4 at this point.

My 1987 21' only holds 30 Gallons. The guy that owned it before me would put in 9 gallons and it would spew out the top. I haven't had any problems. When I had some work done at Dol-fab metal fabrication in Pompano Beach he said that he used to have to cut up the floors in the 21 & straighten out the gas tanks in the Paramounts because they would twist under the floor. Messes up the baffles in the tank.

Sorry for the late post. I have now been able to fill my Paramount. I found that the station that I always used had a pitch to it. Combined with the hitch I could not for the life of me fill the tank. I pulled in the other way with boat level and have now had no problems putting 35 gallons in when needed. Not sure what size tank the 2003 Paramount came with. But I know it is around 55 gallons since I have added over 40 at one time.
