Dura fix aluminum brazing rods

All- anyone of you ever worked with the aluminum brazing rods from dura fix to do repairs on outboard aluminum parts?

They have a horrifingly bad reputation on this board. I tried some on some brand new clean aluminim plates and they worked well, But from what has been said if you need to really weld( heli-arc) something after this repair fails it will be damn near impossible.
