Sir, I have embarked on squeezing a few extra HP from my Mariner 225 EFI's. Due to geographical location its not easy to obtain a quality service to have specific work done. Shipping flywheel's to the US for machining is uneconomic.
Having the flywheels lightened and balanced is quite straightforward here, I have been told that a reduction of approximately 1.5 lbs from the standard flywheel, is the right amount. Removing this from the outer periphery seems straightforward, I can have this done by machining, and reweighing at intervals. Does anyone have an exact figure in terms of weight reduction or location to remove the material from ?
Thanks for any help or advice given,
Nick, Bahrain

I may b wrong but flywheel lightening will not add performance to your motor. It may decrease wear on the top bearing. Do a search. There are some excellent threads already written about the subject. T-Rex has done testing I believe and I don't think he saw any performance increase. I'd spend the money somewhere else. JMO. Kindest Regards. Smitty

+2 t Rex has had some experience with the 40 amp wheels. Like smitty said longevity and maybe a bit more acceleration . Good luck, Mike
