I live in Key Largo as soon as you come in the keys on the ocean side. I run my boats every week if I'm not cruising I'm fishing and there is a good group of people that do the same down here.

It's not hard if you want to work and can show up. Iv worked for the same shop for 9 years and can't tell you how many techs we've been through just cause they can't show up to work.

If we move, the inlaws have a place in ocean reef we can stay for free. but not a fan of that place. We were looking at rentals this weekend and you can find them from 1200-1500 land view and 2200-3000 for on the water. We found a really nice house that we are thiking of getting now for 2650. I own a marine shop up here now and already get a decent amount of work from the keys to key west now. Plus my brother inlaw is a well known guide down there and can get me work. Plus, like Mercracing said nobody in the keys ever shows up. I'm reliable, charge a fair price, and get the job done right the first time and that's all people want. But it also looks like my wife is getting a job at the carter school down there and they pay pretty good and that's how I will be able to start a company over again. But she isn't happy about going back to work, hasn't worked in about four years.

I know that feeling. My gal is great but she wanted a second new car so she had no choice. Told her that we would put her money on top of the regular car payment & get it down quick.

I been with my wife for 13 years and she has only worked for 4 years out of that lol our shop does pretty good but who wouldn't want the extra income and wake up to a bay view of the keys and a boat on a lift in the back yard.

I have heard from a couple people who moved to the keys that as long as you show up to work every day, you can make really decent money. Too many people down there catch the "keys disease" and just don't feel like putting in the 8 hours every day.

"Keys disease" No chit, allot of sun and beer every day. It may be good for vacation but it will burn you out if you do it every day.
I have a freind on that has lived there for years and hes O.K. but he doesnt drink every day. there are a couple that rents houseboats in the keys. I talked to the for a while. they seemed like they had way too much beer and sun. After awhile they just dont give a chit.

I dont have to worry about the "Keys disease" cause i dont drink. if i do, its at river ranch or out with friends. i've owed 2 companies and have never had a business card. the best advertisement is word a word of mouth and thats what i work off of. plus my wife will make pretty good money so that will make it easier to start a new company.

Marine repairs, but sell rebuilt motors over the internet. That's what I do now and most of the motor we build for cust or sell are out of state already. So, not to much will change but the shipping address. I'm not trying to get rich, just live nice. Been trying to start up an online store but don't know how. I'm a dealer for most of what we all use in our boats and engines now but all I'm good at is building engines lol one day I get some body who cant pay for there build and we can barter for internet work.

i think we sold like 4 or 5 motors down there last year and a hand full of rebuilds. i know the work is down there, its just getting the name out there lol as for brian lol he is a pain in the ass but good at what he does. he has been trying to get us to move down there for years. his wife is trying to get my wife a job at her school and if she does, south bound we are. i think we will be happy down there and it should be easy to meet people down there.
