Is there any advantage to putting 115hp inline 6 carbs on a 100hp inline motor? Will this damage the 100hp motor? and if it will not damage the motor what other mods would have to be done for it to run properly?

No

100 HP inline 6 will not respond well to mods and you will probably end up going backwards. You should concentrate on set up tune up and prop selection.

If you want to go faster just get a V-6. Modding an inline is like pissin up a rope for people who don't have a lot of experience with them. If your retired and have plenty of time and money then I'd say go for it but if not then it's not worth the effort. Just changing the carbs and nothing else will not do any good.

So what do you think changing jets is gonna do?....make another 50 horsepower? I wasn't downing anyone here I was just telling him the truth so he don't go waste a bunch of time and money for 2 mph. You must be pretty ignorant to start s*** with 3 posts on the board.

Never said mine is the fastest thing on the river as all I run is fishin motors. I'm just not tryin to dissapoint the guy with big numbers. I never said they couldn't be a fast motor but it takes money, time, and the right boat and setup. Lets hook a chain to both our transoms and I'll show YOU how a V6 sinks a inline. Would put on a good show for all the drunks up on the beach.

Didn't say its a tug boat but it'll pull a loaded 17 Champion on plane with a 26" wheel. So either be positive and give people good advice or go elsewhere. Lies don't get ya anywhere around here.

You can't even type a sentence right so how do I expect you to build a motor....you ain't T-REX so make it easier to read. Please explain your lower line of your last post in laymans terms so all of us young and stupid people can understand you a bit better.

All 100 hp inline 6's are 89 cubes vs 99 in the 1500 and late 115. The mid 70's 1500 ran 80-82 jets. The late 115 ran 74-76 jets. The last 1000 built in 69 ran 59 jets. Now what the hell is going to happen if you put 82 jets into a motor designed for 59 jets????

Its not gonna run worth a crap.

That kind of compression is impossible with an inline 6 Mercury. Not only can it not develop it, but if it could it would fry all 6 pistons in the first 100 yards. You'd better throw that compression guage in the trash. With the low dome pistons in late 70's your compression will be max of 135, probably a little less.
