I bought this last week and have been having a blast re-doing it. The HIN claims that it was home made in 1992. But it looks to me like somebody may have either 'splashed' somene elses boat or maybe have just created a homemade boat out of someone's previously numbered boat.

13' Bullet maybe?

it is 12' long and it is a catamaran....is that what a Bullet is?

I have found a couple of pictures of Cougar Cubs...but even they are different somewhat

Nope not a Bullet then. Could be a Biel cat. What's the HIN?

HIN begins with MS....it has been registered in Mississipi as a home made boat.

About 25 differen HIN's begin with MS ... HIN's start with 3 letters ... could it be MSO? That would be Mini Sport of Fairhaven MI ... out of business in 10/91

in Mississippi if you register a home made boat the HIN starts with MS

cougar cubs were 10 foot.....it could be a scat cat, wrangler, or a scat cat copy, they were 12 foot... hard to tell by the pic..post more pics

It is clear now... this is either a scat cat or a copy of a scat cat. I can tell by the cockpit...of course this one has a FOX emblem on the dash...

I hope 48 horses is enough.... is seems pretty heavy for a short boat.

Looks like a scat cat or a copy of one to me. also looks like someone had a fairly heavy motor on it if the bottom paint is near the actual waterline,

Holy Cow! that's a big engine for a little boat ^ but AWESOME!

And people said that a 200 on the back of the 15' cat i designed would be too heavy???

Don't let them scare you hmt, the worst that could happen is you blow it over and die:eek: seriously though a 200 might be on the heavy side for the hull you've designed which is very Cool BTW:cool: but if it weighs at least as much as the motor does it will work! However the top end might not be any better than it it would with a lighter/less hp motor and the handling and set up will be a little more difficult. I havn't played with the set up on the F-12 at all yet, my plan is to put a short mid and a LWP on it and get some big props to try but I didn't want to put that much into it till i was sure it would actually get on plane and drive reasonably well which it does so the next step is to open the wallet again. Good luck with your project:thumbsup:

Dean the 48 will be fun on it but I think a 3 cyl 70hp OMC would be the best all around choice for these hulls. Set up right it should do 60mph or so. I've always taken things to the extreme though. My theory is that when it comes to Horsepower Too much is just right:D

Well i was thinking about weight, and i'm thinking the hull will be around 700lbs~ Ballpark weight. So that should be good!

And i agree... too much horsepower is just right! It sucks to be underpowered... but overpowered just means you always have that option.... Like the little red button you never push!!! ;)
By the way, LOVE your green boat... it's my desktop background right now on my work comp... hope you don't mind.

To the OP~ comparison, i had a johnson/evinrude 48 on my Carolina Skiff 16DLX, and it only did about 35. That was a flat bottom too, so your cat would definately be more enjoyable with a 70 or so like flatsleek said.

I spoke to the last man to have this registered....he had a 70 and wanted more so he hung a (Get this) 225 on it.

Said it was great cept that at 90 mph it wanted to shovel in the front and submarine on him. Felt unsafe and could not control it good at speed.

A 225 on that boat, he must be really close to SOUTH LOUISIANA. I've seen guys with 200's on flats BUT 12' come on he needs his head examined?

WOW a 225 is gettin a little crazy:eek: probably almost impossible to get the set up right but it would sure be a Thrill trying:D
Mine actually handles the weight and power better than I expected but I doubt it'll ever push it anywhere near 90 even if its capable once I get it set up right.

hmt Thanks for the compliment on the green one, she's my Baby:D you're more than welcome to use the pic as a sreen saver, it would be on mine but the favorite pic of my dogs when they were puppies has been it since before I built the boat and I just can't bring myself to change it, they're like my kids LOL
