Can anyone tell me average price of a survey of a 21' boat? Do they check things like compression on outboards? How do I go about finding one? ( Sausalito Ca. ) Also, amy estimates on shipping same boat from west coast to the east coast? (Md. )

Define "price survey" Must' be because I',ve been up 20 hours, but you might want to re-state your question more cleary. I ship cars from the right coast to the left coast, & depending a few factors, I'd say $2g's or better as a good"guestimate"... Anyone want to fill in the blanks here for this guy? :D

2 seperate questions.
1 marine survey price
2 shipping from west to east or delivering 2g's seems high

Post on here for someone driving coast to coast with an empty hitch, then offer them a stack of hundreds to get it close.

Most of the stuff we do is enclosed (car) transport... Might' be high $ for 21' boat/trailer - non-enclosed... but close I'd bet:) Cant' comment on the other... Good luck! J

IN 2000 I CHECKED INTO SHIPPING MY 25 WARLOCK FROM NORTH OF SEATTLE TO CHICAGO AND THE BEST PRICE I RECIEVED WAS ABOUT $2500.00 ON A FLAT-BED. I ENDED UP DRIVING OUT THERE MY SELF AND PICKING IT UP, IT COST ME ABOUT $500.00 IN FUEL. HOPE THAT HELPS.

I worked for a Marine Surveyor back in '92 through '94. We got $8.00 a foot under 30' and $10.00 a foot over 30 feet. That was hull only. Engine survey was separate and should be done by an experienced engine mechanic.

Should be listed in the phone book. One potential problem. A Surveyor can only look at things that he can see and or touch. Small boat may not have access to some problem areas.

Hope this helps some.
