Anyone have a lower unit repair stand laying around they would like to sell,
or plans to build one out of metal? Any help would be appreciated.

Bob,
Check these out. Pretty simple to make. You could plug it into an engine stand, that's what I'm doing.

Ronnie,

Thank you,

I like the adjustable one. I already have all the tubing and an O.T.C. bench mule mounted
to my work/welding bench. This will work out great.

I made one last night. What seemed like a simple job took 5 hours and a handful of tig welding rod!

I used "U" channel

I like the idea behind this one as you have the ability to flip the L/U over 180 degrees if you were adding a nose cone or working the skeg, water intakes etc, etc... You'd obviously have to have a hole in you bench for the drive shaft or attach to an engine stand...........
... Nice job !!!!!
:D

That was the idea Gary. No need for a hole in the bench, I just clamp the feet to a couple of steel saw horses and turn the case around!

worked at a boat shop in the mid 80's..the mechanic took a piece of 2x12 wood plank..cut the v notch for the gearcase to slide in. and bolted it under his work bench with one big bolt he left the bolt loose enough it would pivot and slide under the work bench when he was not using it. cost about ten bucks and an hour or two!!

Cheap, easy, primitive, ugly. But for about $17/each I'm happy.http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d5/tony97gt/Mobile%20Uploads/0FAE22F8-CD45-487C-BC16-CB37747C2F91_zps7pgtxkhl.jpg (http://s32.photobucket.com/user/tony97gt/media/Mobile%20Uploads/0FAE22F8-CD45-487C-BC16-CB37747C2F91_zps7pgtxkhl.jpg.html)

Cone was welded on with 6 3/4" welds, the space was filled with West, and the filling and fairing was done with PC7.

Those have to be worth more than $17 ea. with "Mercury Racing" on them!!:D I happen to have made the same system except with bolts and wing nuts. Gary;)

Well they WERE only worth $17/each in parts, but with labor charges and once the genuine Mercury stamp went on them the price increased to $150 each. AND...since they are the HP application, no warranty is included. Luckily these have the updated top staked upper clamps, we had trouble with the side stakers.
