Some times you just have to laugh.

It's interesting down here during (now) snow bird season. This marina is hugely popular for transient cruisers. For the last couple mnths there's been a continuous flow of yankee's (and Canucks) coming south for the winter and many spend time at this marina while headed to the Key's and islands. Evidently there are some arrogant Canadians in boats too  I love my Canadian brothers but like anything, it only takes a few.
Our local grocery store sucks this time of yr. They cut in front of you, are rude, act like we're working for them or that we owe them something for coming down, etc, etc. Thank God I don't rely on them for my revenue cuz I'd be broke and in in jail. Anyhow, apparently this American had had enough :D:cool::thumbsup:
Notice this was done in broad day light too. Imagining alcohol may have been involved ;)

VERO BEACH — A Delaware man was filmed on surveillance video vandalizing a boat docked at the Vero Beach Marina last week, police said.

"Go back to Canada if you can't read English," was what 71-year-old John Peach of Wilmington, Del., wrote with a permanent marker on the side of the dinghy at 3:10 p.m. Dec. 28, according to the police report and the video. Peach, who was charged with misdemeanor criminal mischief, also wrote the word "pig" on the boat, the police report states.

The owner of the boat, who hails from Quebec, reported the vandalism at the marina in the 3600 block of Rio Vista Boulevard. City marina officials provided police with the video, detectives said.

I think Quebec is french canadian and strongly favors the french part, maybe that is where the language thing came in. I have seen some of the arrogant (beyond proud) about canada folks down here too; much the same as when i was working in the bahamas and i would see some americans acting with the same condescending arrogance about being american to the bahamians. like you said Gary, it only takes a few and i guess there are a few in every country who want give the rest a bad name. we should just call the whole lot geo-specific douchebags. :)

I was talking to a buddy of mine who used to bartend near Hollywood beach (very popular snow bird destination). He told me about a group of French Canadians that had frequented the bar for years but conveniently forgot to tip. I know that service industry workers in Canada don't rely on tips but how many winters do you have to spend in America before you remember American service workers make below minimum wage hourly.

Two big mistakes here: if he had written it in French, and told them to go back to Quebec, not Canada, I bet they would not have reported it to the police. :D

The only French Canadian I ever meet saved my vacation about 20 years back. My wife and I drove to the Keys in our old Chevy van to a K.O.A. The caliper kept locking up on the last couple of hundred miles or so. I tried to avoid applying the brakes because they would stick everytime. I would have to pull over and break the bleeder to releive the pressure. i got a nasty burn on my forearm from the calipers.
We made it to the campsite and I jacked up the front of the van. old Charlie Labbe was a blast, he loaned me his car to head to the local NAPA auto parts, Hell he was a stranger. After I got the new brake line installed he askeed me if I wanted to go Shark fishing with him that night. It was great, I caught a shark that night out of Doug Giffords old shark boat. Doug and him were good freinds, thats how I met Doug.
he was cool, but he was just one guy.

Got to agree with you some good and bad from each side of the country. Just seems good ones from the East are harder to come by.

I was in Missasauga Q-beck eating lunch with a friend . He siad he would get the bill .. so I said I got the tip . I had a small hand full of change that I had aquired over the few days i was there. I wasnt about to go thru the hassle of getting it convered so I held out my hand with what I had. He picked thru a few coins and put them on the table . I smiled and turned my hand over and let it all fall on the table .. the waitress was happy , everybody else including my friend seemed a bit miffed. He said .. hey bud .. I have to eat here . Now I would think that he would be happy that the girl would take care of him like a king in the future , seems he was more worried about living up to the new standard .. LOL
I do remember that there were a few silver coins that were a little bigger than a quarter that had a copper penny pressed or cast into the center . I think he said that they were worth like two dollars or there abouts. To me , it looks like it would cost 3 dollars to make the thing .. lots of Vietmanese in that town too .. nice place to visit .. but .. :nonod:

Some rocket scientist figgured it would be a good thing to do away with $1&2 dollar bills sometime in the late 80's. Doesn't take long to get a heavy change pocket.

My girlfriend was born in Edmunston Canada and grew up in St. Agatha Me and has dual citizenship. Her family mothers side are still in Edmunston and all speak French. Her dads from St. Agatha and speaks French as do many in northern Maine. Most French speaking Canadians when in the US will speak English. But, the Quebecois are a different bunch all together their French dialect is different and they pretty much refuse to speak English. They even have a name for non French speaking Quebecois, Anglophones. For the most part I find them to be pushy and rude.

Your being too nice hydro...but her parents do love ya so I dont blame ya.
I have one good friend from Queee-bek, and deal with others all summer long. They unfortunatly for the most part suck to deal with. Pushy, arrogant, rude, nasty, etc... the only good thing is the code of fashion how the women dress, if it looks hot they wear it and they wear it well. As far as tips go... right... they dont and dont plan too and they all know you DO tip in the USA.

Mississauga is not in Quebec, it is in Ontario.

Yes that is a two dollar coin. Coins are used for small denominations all over the world, just not in the USA. The coins are extremely cheap to make as they are made completely out of steel in a totally automated facility here in Winnipeg. They last forever while a bill only lasts 30-45 days.

We are getting new bills made from plastic - the 100 is out already, they are pretty cool.

1- Quebec is NOT Canada! Not if you ask a Quebequer anyways... You ask them what "country" they're from, they will answer "Quebec".

2- The old loud, rude and obnoxious frenchmen we send Florida is to get even with you for the loud, rude and obnoxious old geezers you send us during the hunting and snowmobiling seasons!

3- The thing about tipping I don't understand, because here in Ontario and in Quebec the waitresses get less than minimum wage as well and in Quebec the tax man rapes the waitresses, come income tax time they have to pay a tax on an estimated 15% tip.
So if the customer doesn't tip, the waitress pays a tax on money she never got...

4- To the guy that thought he was in Quebec when he was visiting in Misisissauga, that's not in Quebec. Hell, that's not even Canadian teritory anymore.
You were somewhere between China, Somolia, Pakistan, Romania and whatever else.

Blah, hah, hah.....Good one.

I can't stand the whiny asss old geezers down here no matter where they're from! Some of them set their alarms to get up and go find someone to bitch at.
You can tell when they're in town when you pull into the grocery parking lot. All out of state plates. They block an entire isle w/their cart and then give you the stink eye if you try to get past. Matter of time until I get whacked in the head w/a cane.
Go back the hell where ever you came from!

Wait.... What???? I don't live in Quebec?
lol Mississauaga is pretty sweet as long as you're near the lake. I've lived in Port Credit for 27 years now and still have alot of fun!
A lot of my friends are servers and anywhere around here, if you dont tip at least 15% you are cheap.

Hmm Q-beck,

I have so been waiting for this.

Interesting tidbits:

English signs are illegal in the *AZI french Reich.
eg a Jewish Deli (Schwart's) was targeted to remove the apostrophe from there name.
They have been in business for 80 years.

It Is illegal from anyone outside the reich to work in construction in Quebec.
I have worked there dozens of times and when caught by the labour gestpo the companies that
brought me in were fined.
(Montreal is the only place I have ever had tools stolen and i have worked from Miami to the Arctic.)

eg. Habitat for humanity was doing a build in Quebec just across the river from Ottawa.
They had local celebrities come for the kick off. one was a local boxer from Ontario.
The gestapo fined him for working for free at a charity event.

If you are a company who wants to do buisiness in Q-bec you have to have an office there.
they are the only province who does this. Most companies cannot afford to have more than one
head office so often they are located in Quebec for all of Canada.

I had a friend who worked for air Tra??at. Based in Quebec. He was one of the few higher up english execs. After some bad money market investments and a downturn in the economy they jerked around the english employees to get them to quit (so no severance package)
He said at the end he was going to meetings week long 8 hours a day where they switched to only speaking french and not even acknowledging that he was there to get him to quit. He finnally got a package lol.

In reference to Q-becers being arrogant (racist too). I was working in Kuujjuarapik an Inuit (some Cree too) I met an Inuit on the Job site first day and said "hello"! He said "oh good you are english". I said "what do you mean?" His response was that the french on the josite treated him and the others like turds. He was a licensed carpenter and was only allowed to clean up garbage.
I have only gotten started but I hate typing and have ADD. lol

Montreal is the worst place I have ever been in my life. I was there on business for less than a week. The people were so rude and ripped us off...I saw them speaking English and when I asked them a question they they suddenly forgot English. I have been all around the World and without a doubt say, Montreal, Canada...when anyone ever asks, "whats the worst place you have ever been too"?
STAY AWAY FROM FLORIDA...................

It reminded me of the west coast of Canada were im from. Super helpful and always willing to lend a hand people.
