Took a tire in yesterday that had a slow leak. It is on an Allison rim that looks like a Ford Ranger rim from the late ninetys.
I asked them to be carefull when I dropped it off because there were no marks on it. Got it home last night and there is a half moon scratch a couple inches in from the edge of the wheel about 5 inches long. Kinda would match the big clamp they used years ago to hold the rim down. I am going back with it today - what should I expect? (Probably just a hard time)

Sorry to hear things like this. but it might have helped if you brought it to their attention before you left the premises. My guess is A hard time. Good Luck though!!!

If it were me I would NOT go in with guns a blazin, rather keep a cool head and explain what happened, and what communication you gave before leaving it there, tell them that IF they had expressed any concerns you would have taken it some place else. Sometimes a teaspoon of Honey will go farther than the vinager.

You are right. I would have looked but while I was paying another guy took it out and put it in the back of my truck. Of course it was raining so I couldn't give it more than a quick glance.

It just irritates the crap out of me that everywhere you go you can count on somebody doing a poor job...

I can't take a vehicle anywhere other than the one guy I trust in Ft. Myers. Pressed for time, had a place do a tune up on a truck before I was going on a long trip one time. 100 or so miles up the road I hear what sounded like the exhaust blowing up. Spark plug had blown out of the head, and the other 5 that were left were all finger tight, hanging on by a few threads. It sucks, and is a big reason I don't even trust someone else to change my oil.

But throwing the vinegar in their face is so much more satisfying. :D

right on! glad to hear.
I tell my wife all the time, try being diplomatic about it at first, if it doesn't work, then blow a gasket!
I may be close to 300 lbs but the wife (at 102 lbs ) is the one ya gotta watch out for...

Glad you got it ironed out. The mistake was probably telling them to be careful in the first place. If you had said nothing, it probably wouldn't have had a mark on it when you picked it up. Like we joke about at work, if you tell someone to keep a close eye on an order because it's important, that will be the one time when things go wrong. If you just treat it as normal everything goes right!

I got so sick of $7 an hour tire monkeys wrecking my stuff that I bought a tire machine and a balancer. I get sick to my stomach every time I glance at where a moron hammered wheel weights on my Tahoe rims and chipped up the clear coat..now they are corroding because they have become anodes.

On my race car, they didn't put the weights on where the old ones came off, but further inside the rim and guess what hit the brake calipers? Idiots, morons...
