I know it's looking into the exhaust port but that looks like the top of the piston and not the skirt.

That's the bottom of the skirt with a gap below the port.

I would think it would get a lot of crankcase blow by like that and unburnt fuel going out the exhaust.

It eats reeds but otherwise runs like a raped ape. That is if the epoxy holds the sleeve in.

How's that Vegas coming? The Fly is getting lighter and lighter every day. You could be in big trouble.

Wayne that's a buddies motor that runs but shouldn't. He dranks a keg and got out his grinder...the rest is history.

Thinking on this short skirt thing. xfer ports charge the cylinder, part of the charge goes out the exaust port ,piston closes exaust port . Then the piston opens exaust to the crankcase , ^p low presure in the case greater presure in the exaust = overcharged crankcase and higher crankcase compression. Interesting Bob

It was all a mistake but it runs and runs pretty good. Too many mods done at one time though to really know...there may be more power but it could also be hurting. Shame is no one will ever know.

Will polute the fresh charge with exhaust. Works good if ya want to decrease N oxide emisions. Is that a new trick to make your 2.5 2006 Fed legal???;)
In the old MX racing days I got a new Maico that just didn't want to run fer chit. It also had a strange exhaust smell to it. Anyway, after poking around saw that the exhast port opened under the piston at tdc. Added base gaskets to close it and it ran like the Raped Ape! Course the port timing may have helped some too but it worked for me!:D
