The ODBA and ECDBA have agreed to a join forces for the 2012 season. This will be a joint effort utilizing both ODBA and ECDBA race sites. ECDBA officials were present at the annual ODBA general meeting and added as officers in the official minutes. They were also part of all aspects of planning for the 2012 season. Both clubs have agreed to run under one rule book for the 2012 season utilizing the ODBA two day format of 800' Outlaw and 1/4 mile racing. The 2012 schedule will be finalized in the very near future and should be released right after the holidays if not sooner. There were many changes to the rule book and all racers should read it very carefully upon being released but here are some of the highlighted changes for this season:

-- Pro Series 1/4 mile will now run on Saturday and Outlaw Series will move to Sundays.

-- Radio contact from racer to shore will be required by all racers.

The following are in regards to 1/4 mile classes:

1. Lake Racer - added a Pro Stock motor allowance under Super Stock rules. Minor weight changes to Pro Gas conforming motors.

2. Modified Production - major change in regards to carbureted motors. Aftermarket parts allowed via Pro Carb rules have been disallowed.

3. Pro Carb - in general.....25lbs removed from small block motors and 25lbs added to big block motors.

4. Pro Gas- Mercury small block motors changed from 1300lbs to 1325 lbs.

5. Unlimited - non-nitrous weight lowered from 1100lbs to 1050lbs.

The following are in regards to 800' classes:

1. V6 Comp- added minimum weight of 1200lbs.

2. Pro Max Bass and Ski - eliminated from the rulebook.

3. River Racer - added minimum weight of 1200lbs.

4. Pro Mod - added minimum weight for small block motors of 1325lbs, added minimum weight for big block motors of 1400lbs. Removed minimum mid section requirement to allow any mid section. No V-8 motors allowed.

We did add one completely new class to the 1/4 mile line-up. This is a version of ECDBA's River Racer class with some modifications. Its basically a combination of V-6 Comp, River Racer and a place for some less than stock DI motors. It is being called V-6 Pro and the rules are as follows:

Looks great Ray I just hope you could put V-6 pro between SS and Lake Racer because I will run both classes ,
need time to give fuel, weigh boat , then add weight, add fuel , change LU, prop
Heck I'll need two classes between
This is going to be the best year in a long long time,
Thank You JJ

Even though I have been standing in the shadows the last few years I still care about this sport as much or more than most. Its realy great to see that Out Board drag racing is still here and that you guys are busting your ass and for countless hours to keep things running and advancing with the times. My heart is still in it even though my wallet isnt. Keep up the good, hard work Ray and all the officials that invest their time and hard earned money keeping the ODBA ECDBA afloat. Hats off guys:cheers:

I think that it's going to be a great year, 6 good race sites and 6 great races. Don't forget that this is the 20th annual Jasper. It should be special.
