I picked up a set of vulcanized 4 pedal cages to use in place of the old 5 pedal.I was thinking to get the most out of the improved sealing a single stage reed might be best?On my 2 stage the main reed would wear but the second stage would lose it's seal(curl up a little).Do ya think since a good seal is important to good bottom end that a good seal of a single would be better than the advantages of a 2 stage?

Carb motors benifit more from the reed seal than efi. Any reverse flow back into the carbs will cause a rich condition at low rpm ; double carburation , the air picks up fuel in both directions. I've never tried the rubber coated reeds , could be the ticket. Bob

The only way to go...I use the 4 peddle's in my 2.0 for better bottom and also will flo better than the 5's ...I flowed the 2 aginst each other on a flow bench, and the stock 4's will out flo tha modified 5's, and the increased seel of the rubber increases bottom and launch...I now run single stage reeds that I cut(actually one big reed cut in half) and have run the 2 stage...It's very close, but the single having better 100' times...good luck, REX

Noticed a couple things looking at the cages. There just a little shorter, more rod clerance for milling the front half and the mounting bosses are shorter too so you shouldn't have to add clearance there after milling.
Any thoughts on leaving the reed stops to help stuffing?
