Had the STV and it was way too pretty for me to dial in my work bench motor on. Had the A Bote and didn't have the time/money at the same time.(perfect boat for the program if timing was better)
Have my eye on something that kinda goes back to my roots. Cheap enough to leave in the weeds when I don't have the time/money but solid enough to let me finish dialing in my project motor and get out w/dirty underwear each time.
Have only seen maybe 75% of whats in this motor and you have to wonder.........humhhhh.
Plus a guy just opened a motor/machine shop across the street from me w/all the capabilities that I don't have. Including dyno :reddevil:
Course timing is perfect as I just finished selling all my best wheels and spare parts. (for the 2nd time)
Also collecting parts for another OMC project. (the board has been way too quiet on this side for too long)

Very cool.
What's w/the wavy finish on the sides of the block in the bottom picture?? Also, ask the owner of that motor if those are my velocity stacks or his buddies in Cincinati that also made them ;)
Thanks for posting regardless. I want to do a 4 almost as bad as an 8!
You guys have 4's running fast enough to scare any smart man w/a 6 :)
Way cool, stuff!
PS, actually I see the red stacks are actually Evolution Marines (based on construction) and the silvers are someone elses.

Awesome stuff Greg! We need pix's though ;) Good luck and be careful next weekend. As I told you, it is possible to blow over an A Bote and your record would indicate that........., not even going to say it;)

How high is it? How far back? With a Mercury on the back and an 8" plate it'll run good between 3/8" and 1/2" above. I ran it at 3/8" but it could've easily gone to 1/2"

Mine are still the same length. I just heard about the clearance issues from a Friend. He said the later model cowls are tighter? Sounds like changes may be made if I run any more. Or just run the Martini (short) stacks.
The weather is not like yours! But you know all about Ohio weather. My Uncle lives close to Castalia/Marble Head and he said the lake is clearing up now. He put his boat away early with the Algae issues. Its been weird here almost 6ft of rain this year in Cincinnati.
I went up to the house boat to add some bracing under the old plywood. It was depressing as hell with ice forming. there were 7 bass boats out on the lake (trailer count).
Enjoy the sun Man!

when you sell it next week
Goooood one ;)
Boat needs gauges, and a wiring harness. Trailer needs rollers and tires.
Definitely a case of Dejavu when going through the boat yesterday. Wayne (seller) was a trooper and walked away when I used to a 2" x 4" to check the core for goop :p
Should be a fun project. Reminds me of how good of a lake boat my old Vector was contrary to how all the experts said it would run w/my pig motor on the back :icon_bs: Only negatives I ever saw in that boat would be gone w/a V-king.
No doubt that the A Bote (that RRRevinrude now owns) would have been a better mule but timing was wrong and I always loved the lines of the classic Streams. IMO, one of the most gorgeous designs ever.
May have already posted another example of my superior intelligence of selling absolutely, every one of my small boat go fast wheels. Closest thing I have to a good prop for this boat is one of the 26" Choppers for the Sonic :o
Here's one of my favorite pix's of the Vector from 7 or so yrs ago. In the Gulf of Mexico, off the beach at Cayo Costa (2 islands north of Captiva) on one of it's many trips outside. That boat went all over the place. Notice the OH registration ;)
Or this video of it @ 101 w/a very mild motor 2" bellow the pad ;)

hurdles to clear. When I first built this motor I had the STV w/a 20" transom. When tilting the motor up, the tiller arm hit the deck which meant the tiller arm went bye bye.
So to work on this boat I either A., spend a grand to run side ram hydraulic, B., run string steer which I sold all my parts for plus don't want in this boat anyway., or C., do what I'm doing to run the dual cable that's already in boat.
New donor tube/arm is at the machine show (gambled and dropped it off a wk ago to at least be in line) but as with most good shops, he works at his own speed.
I have no simple projects.

I couldn't find velocity stacks for this project so I took out a $3K loan and had a 100 done on a CNC. I had most done in red anodized but left some bare aluminum. If you look close at the 1st picture you can see I mixed them up on this motor so they spelled #1
