Baja 220 Sportt shouldd i run a 300xs merc or evinrude 250 h.o????

need some on help in deciding weather to get a new etec 250 h,o or the 300xs merc for my baja 220 sport hadda v8 on it was prob faster than both motors but want more of a reliable motorr.. helppP!!

Get out the popcorn! Both are great motors but you will be limited by the L/U with the Rude. Mecury is plug and play so I would go with the Merc.

The 220 is one of Baja's sleekest designs, a very pretty boat. I've always liked them.

However, the boat won't go fast enough to be limited by the gearcase on the Evinrude.

Both engines are great for this application. You won't go wrong with either. Pick the one you can get the best deal, warranty, rigging and service on from your dealer.

i ran a 275 v8 this year when it ran i got 76 gps outtaa it with an 3.6 xp i could probably get 80 but i just want reliability those v8's cant be touched when they run at best but most of the time they dont run right but i should be able to get atleast 72-75 weather i put the 250 h.o or 300xs on it but i heard good things about the new 250 they make alotta powwer i hear and are underrated ill have pics up of boat soon

i run a 3.6 and have verry little break down only thing i SUCKS gas what year is your 3.6

really never haddd one was considering gettting one but the 275 i had always hadda problem something was never right can u tell the power difference between that and 275?

The 3.4L Etec has more torque than better midrange than the 3.6 or 4.0 V8 in stock form. I would expect similar numbers with either of the new motors, just uses half the fuel of the V8....
