Ken, I don't know where US1 is when we need him, but here's an opinion or 2 until he runs across your questions.
First, all Formula 1 Merc powerheads are reverse rotation as they're delivered from the factory and have been for some time. Of course a lot of em have been converted, probably more before the introduction of the 300 drag than now. Secondly, Merc didn't build any F1 powerheads on offshore mids, so if that is in fact what it is, somebody stuck it there. The compression seems low and would SEEM to suggest wear or wrong heads for whatever reason. 280HP at 9K with 125 lbs of compression on an older engine seems like a contradiction to me.
You don’t need my help. You answer is great. No F1s came on offshore mids. F1s come left hand rotation only. The flywheel will have a yellow band around the center bolts. Timing is fixed. There are two versions of compression. One is 36 CC F1 Champ at 130 lbs. 12-volt cranking and the other is S3000 26 CC at 160-lbs. 12-volt cranking. Both claim 300HP. The F1 2.0L is 280 HP @ 9000 RPM.
