Howdy All,
Hoping someone could lend me some insight on how to set the the round yamaha tach gauge 6Y8-8350T-11-00 to work properly for my 2006 vmax hpdi. When I purchased the boat the tach had a blinking overheat flashing bar and no oil level so I removed from dash and started messing with the three slider bars on back of tach under the rubber cap. It was set to 1 on 2 off 3 on. I started switching combos and go the flashing temp to stop and oil level to show but now my RPM is way high ! I tested the boat today and realized this at around 4k I was now showing double that so i must not have tach settings right. Question is what should the tach settings be to make all fine. Thanks for your help - Ryan

If I remember correctly, switch 1 is for the trim gauge sender, the switch goes up for a 2 lead sender and down for a 3 lead. Switch 2 is for RPM, up for 6 pole and down for 12 pole (yours is 12pole). Switch 3 is for 2 or 4 stroke which will affect the warning lights, yours is a 2 stroke so it will go down.
