I have a used solid (metal w/4 little rubber inserts) flo-torque hub that came with one of the many props I have purchased. I noticed it is about 1/4" longer than the standard black plastic hub insert. Why would this be a different length?

I have one of those longer hubs also. It was my understanding that there were used with a shorter thrust washer (older style).

are you referring to the composite hub being "shorter" ? If so, it's because you have to have the new style "forward bushing"

I figured that out. I have one with the old style forward bushing that is not raised. Swapped it out.
