OK,OK although we are still working on this here is a shot of the new Vegas plug. We should be starting the mold next week and start production in January. The boat will be available with or without a windshield. It will run the new XT bottom we have for the Voyager which is faster, easier to drive, and better riding than the old XT. Boat is 20'2" and will be rated for up to 280hp.
Any comments? Post here, e-mail us at
[email protected] or call us at (865) 379-5400.
Thanks,
Jim

Gee Jerry,
There is no need to talk to anybody on this board that way or was you post meant for some GAY website? I see you post alot but you must not be to proud of who you are because your profile says nothing about you.
Jim,
I think think the new deck looks very good. I look forward to seeing it in person along with the new open bow. I think it is big of you to post "Spy Photos" for us all to see and I would immagine that Greg is proud to have you here and to have his site getting exclusive coverage on the Re-birth of Hydrostream.

Brad,
Thanks for the good words.
Jerry: You had the same kind of response on a post Nov 20 and I responded then that Hydro Stream will be a sponsor of this site starting in January 2003. I guess you don't read replies to post you make or do you just like trying to stir things up the for your own benefit? It does seem strange that you are unwilling to let any information about yourself or your boat out, hiding anything? If you review my profile or Brads you can tell we are willing to take responsibility for who we are and our postings. As you were not a member on Nov 20, I look forward to seeing you membership sticker in the future. I may be wrong but I don't really think this is a site that needs or appreciates the kind of language you used above.:(

Jim you are by far a class act. You porduce a fine looking boat. It was great to meet you all at the rumble and would love to see the race hull at rumble 03. If I could only talk the owner of the dealership to carry performance boats. Pontoons and center consoles get old. Hope to see you in Kentucky again. Once again you are an asset to the performance comunity. Rick

Good looking boat. I was holding out for a new stream but just could'nt pass up the virage I found. Keep up the good work.
Two questions:
Any plans to make this boat completely wood free?
Rating of 280: Does that mean you think the 3.0 engines are too heavy? (ie. 300X)
Thanks!! Keep up the good work.

Wow, man it Looks good, Can't wait to see it. You are a class act Jim, I admire that.
MTCM, wow how long you had that YT? The finish looks flawless, sweet looking set up:)
-Tom
The YT is an 87. Bought her October 1987. I try to take care of her. She is about to get a 260 put on her butt soon as I finish building one up. Still need a few more pieces parts. All that in the works. Got your e-mail but e-mail here has been up and down for the last week. I will reply soon and send you some pics of the Stream. Take care

Thanks Wayne
Most people have NO idea how many thousands upon thousands of hours it takes to make a plug, and yes plugs are not pretty. When I was racing at Jasper some girl next to my wife said " I can't believe he brought that boat here looking like that" Well sorry, just to see the boat in one color even if it is grey primer is refreshing to me, normally it is multicolor bondo. Looks great Jim and it has been a pleasure talking to you . Hydrostream is in good hands with you in charge.

JW,
The XT will hold a V8 real nice,I would think a 300x would be GREAT motor for one!!!

I think yur heading in the right direction with the new Streams !
It's ashame what had happened to tarnish the reputation of such
a great boat. But if ya play the cards on the table Hydrostreams
will be the choice of people that want quality and performance.
Hey Comp .... Any numbers on that with that " Big Johnson " on
there ????

Weight is not the issue for 280 rather than 300X, its a liability issue. The new Vegas will be 100+ with a 280 and 100++ with a 300X. When you put something new in the market there are a lot of liability issues that come in to play and a lot of people who get to help you make decisions. Prime example most Allisons only have a factory recommended hp rating of 150.
As far as construction, both the Voyager and Vegas are 100% wood free. They are 100% hand laid with vinyl ester resin and all composite construction. Even the interior is wood free. Transoms are composite with both transom knees and a lateral cross brace. The new Hydro Streams are not your fathers Oldsmobile!!!
And a quick thanks to all for the support, I know you all have high expectations and we are doing our best to make the new Streams live up to them.

Good things to see. New deck looks sweet. Glad to see something fresh here. Been away a little bit, got seriously run down and spent some time recouping someplace warm. I have a couple of messes to clean up and I'd like to come down after X-mess sometime and look at whatchya got going on.

Stream 1 And Cuda 21 you are both doing a great job. Whats the best about it is you want imput from potential new buyers. I just wish the Engine Manf. people would do like you two guys are doing. Got to see both of you guys hard work at Jasper. Now that bat boat was pretty impressive especially considering the conditions. Sorry Stream 1 for throwing in a possible competitor on your post but I just think both of you guys are a class act.
So when you guys feel like you need to get one of these boats out on the water to be seen just send one my way.
Stream1, I'd make that my #1 selling point in advertising. As we all know, old 'Streams,Bajas,Checkmates, etc. etc.... have all rotted in one way or another because of wood. With the prices of new boats getting so high, a wood free boat becomes a worthwhile investment. Great news. Now we can finally have a wood free high performance boat that holds a lot of people and not be too hard for the wife to drive!!
Most people think that if you cover wood with polyester GP resin it is water proof -- NO WAY-- over time polyester will let water pass--Vinylester resin has a very high water resistance--- but only Epoxies are trully superior to water resistance. And also far superior adhesion and chemical resistance. If a boat was made with wood and sealed right with epoxy you folks would not hate wood so much.--- To my knowledge Allison race boats and Triad race boats STILL use wood because you can not beat mother nature for strength pound per pound.--- Allison also encapsulates foam.

I have to agree with you, wood free boats are the future of the marine industry. Not necessarily because it is better or worse but because of public opinion. As a new company with a old hertitage we have the opportunity to overcome past opinion by starting our production as an all composite company. As we have investigated composite comstruction everyone at Hydro Stream has become comfortable with the process and the materials and I feel confident we are building one of the best boats in the market, either performance or general recreational boating.
Because of Hydro Streams history, designs and performance levels we have had the opportunity to work with many of the marine industries leaders in composites, these companies have been excited about helping us and that has lead to a great exchange of imformation. As you and the others on this board get the opportunity to experience the new Streams you will find them to be lighter, stronger and better built which in the long run means a faster boat that should last for years.
