200xs on 15" offshore mid

I have a 2003 200xs powerhead i just put on a 15" offshore mid. I tried to put 280 allien cowls on it but you cant latch it because the latch hits the coil drivers. Their is a ton of room on front side of engine. I was wondering if anyone else has ran into this issue. Also i was wondering if i changed the base plate from a 200 ROS if these cowls would work?

That is the only difference is the base plate shifts the cowling to the rear.... a 200xs base plate will fix the issue
