Mine is an 86 motion. I had to replace the transom and stringers when I got it a couple of years ago. but it is 20+ years old so that was expected. It appears to be a very well made boat. Mine has a foam core that is still perfect so I did not have to mess with that when I did the other repairs. It is one of the nicest all around handing boats I have ridden in. No funny stuff at any speed. I want to get a tunnel next to play around with too but I am keeping my motion and will not sell it.

The Motion 18 is an Action 18 with a flat pad. Build quality was usually top-notch but like any older boat, check for some wood rot.

I saw your seebold for sale here before you bought it. Was kind of interested because everyone always tells me they are great rough water boats. Kind of wondered why you got rid of it as nice of a ride as they are supposed to be.

If it's an action the HIN # will start with ACM. Action did have the motion molds for a while so it very well could be built by action.

Mine has MIC DUY (Motion marine)
I have not personally seen another action or copy with a core like mine but I have been told by others they have seen them. The info on the USCG site makes mention of a Jay Pilini which is a name I have heard but don't know if he made my boat or not.

Put your MIC (the first three letters of your HIN) in here

http://www.uscgboating.org/recalls/mic1.aspx

The info that comes up with my MIC shows that motion was in clearwater at least some of the time they were in business.

Reaction19, our boats appear to have came out of the same molds. When Ryan had it I looked it over pretty closely. When he got it the floor was cut out so I could see our boats were built very differantly. Mine has a core , had two large stringers on each side of the pad and one small one down the center. Yours was built without a core and has/had one tall stringer down the center. I did not know if it was because they were layed up by differant builders or is was just because mine is 10 years older. As far as the molds they were from as far as I could tell the boats are Identical. We had them side by side one day. The lake tarpon boys always referred to your boat as a motion and I never saw the title.
