Recently purchased an i/o boat with a 350 that has not been run in 8+ years. Any ideas or thoughts on starting this? New gas but what about top cylinder lube? Any help is appreciated long time since I had a car motor boat. thanks Rick

Crank the engine for a few sec with the plugs out. Install the plugs start the engine dry (no water) with the drive off don't want to fry the impeller which should
be changed anyway. If and when the engine starts run for 15-20 sec long enough to see the oil preasure and the lifters to pump up.After that
take a good hard look at the risers and exhaust manifolds they normally only last 8-12 years you don't need water getting into a good engine
that's why i said to start it dry.
my 2 cents

Salt water motors, the risers and manifolds only last about 4 years tops... Carb might need servicing...... get some storage fogging oil and spray it into the cylinders before you roll it over to give the cylinder wall some lube. You can get really anal about it and get a oil pump primer tool and pull the distributor and prime the oil galleries (rolling it over with the plugs out till you get pressure will do also)
what motor/drive is it?
