Ok I seem to be getting mixed reviews from different prop shops on the durability and safety of welding a prop with a stress crack on the leading edge.

My local guy wont even press a hub in my prop after its repaired. He is staying as far away from it as possible. Others like DAH sound like its a common fairly safe way to go.

What are your opinions/experience?

Mine is a 14 1/4 x 28 3 blade Mercury cleaver I want to run on a 1500xs. It was originally used on a v-6 and started a hairline crack 1 inch from the hub 3/4 inch long on the leading edge. (id post a pic but is impossible to see in photos) I purchased it from an old racer and it has been thinned and looks super fast.

Thanks
Conrad

There should be a button on the back of your camera labaled with a "flower pot" icon. This is MACRO mode, which will enable your camera to focus on objects only a few inches from the lens. Enable MACRO mode and try again, you'd be surprised how close you can get and still stay in perfect focus.

Welded cracks in props and gearcases usually return after a while. The results can be devastating.

244866244867OK here it is . I hate using a macro lens because it can over dramatize things due to larger than life results. Let me know your thoughts on this, ive outlined its length.
Thanks

keep it under 6000 and a good weld might work ,above that rut ro.

May work on a 1500XS. I wouldn't use it on a V6.

A well experienced prop shop with stainless knowledge can do a repair which will require more than welding the crack thanks.
