I know someone had pictures at one time of the differences between closed deck and open deck blocks. I was wondering what years are open and closed deck.

What does closed mean exactly, I thought that it meant you couldn't see the water passages in the block. I have a 99 200 and can look right into the block. I want to put 2.7 heads on it and was wondering if there is a mod that needs to be done for cooling?

Ok I did some searching and found pics, mine is defiantly a closed deck. So what mod is needed to put the 2.7 heads on, I thought they looked the same as the stock ones that are on it now.

I have posted pics of the difference and chris' years are correct.
Your block is a 99 so its closed deck, I forgot to tell you on the phone today that I didnt do the mods to the 2.7 heads when I put them on any of my closed deck motors and never had any cooling issues at all. Some guys put putty between the cyls at 6 oclock on the top 2 to direct the water.

I actually went and pulled up the pictures you posted. I forgot to ask you about that, I'm glad you havent had any problems with cooling. Good talking with you, i'll keep posted when I get them on and jetted. Racer suggests jetting up 1 size for every 10lbs of comp. Thanks again.
