I have a 1987 Eliminator Daytona with 1997 2.5 260 Merc. prop on it is a Triton 1, 30 pitch I get 70 mph at 7200 rpm Can someone give me advice on what prop to use? I was thinking about trying a Mazco HP4 pitch ? motor set back 10" , Bob's hyd jackplate

36% slip. You'd want 10% or thereabouts. Something is not right with your set up, tach, or speedo, or boat.

What is your engine height, set back?
I would have thought the Merc 260 should run around 7500 rpm

i'd think a lightening ET in a 28 would work great. but, i don't know much about your boat.
the 260's like to turn more than 6500 that's for sure.
merc lab 28 cleaver ,low water pickup on the boat to sea strainer to water pump,12" jack plate jack the motor up so at speed all thats in the water is the skeg and 1/2 of the prop ,you should see 100. sea strainer is optional ,i have them because i ge t leaves and grass in the fall not to mention milfoil in the summer can plug a motor real quick , the water pump wont chew up debris ,sea strainer keeps all

21' Daytona light lay-up, 225 Yamie (2.6), 10" set back, no jack plate, propshaft 3/4" below keel, running a 4 blade Drag 30 went 88.3 @ 6100 rpm on a long run, ran the 1/4 mile in 15.43 @ 78.56 mph
Same boat with Yamaha 26 3 blade runs 83 and change flat out @ 6200, but 1/4's at 14.208 @ 81.83 mph (best... average was 14.33 @ 80.60).
tried a Drag 26 3 blade adn helped both ET adn speed, but not as much as the Yamie prop... But then the Yamie prop was custom built for the set-up....
