Can anyone shed some light on the procedure to do the cooling mods that need to be done to the closed deck 3 liter to install the 2.7 heads on them . I have the proper equipment to perform the mods , just need to know what needs to be done and parts to be obtained.
Thanks in advance
Tim

I guess since Racer help develop the closed deck cooling mod, if he wanted it posted, he would have. Besides, there's probably only a handful of people that know how to properly do it.
Plus this is actually two different mods. First you've got to modify the heads, then you have the mods to do to the block.

The block mod is a bit complicated and really needs to be bare when done. The head cooling is simple. I answered your PM big blue. You can run the heads without doing the block mod. Block mod evens out bottom to top temps.

Actually I think 92 was the first but it did not have finger ports
93 was the first finger ported block.

Had to have been 93. My 92 200 is an open deck, no fingerports. My 94 is a closed deck with fingerports.

Oldschoolltv. If you are running that Mirage, I might have a 96 block that's almost ready to build you would be interest in. I was porting it for a bass boat, had it almost completely done and then for some reason, thought I still needed to raise the finger ports. After I had done three cylinders I realized if had F****d up and raised them .020" above the boost port. This would work great on a lighter boat, but not really that good on a 2,000 pound bass boat. I bought three more sleeves to replace them, since I don't have a need for a motor that will probably need to be turned almost 7,000 rpm. That was five years ago and it's still sitting there, needing three sleeves or the other three cylinders raised to match.
Doctors tell me I probably won't be doing any more die grinding after having to have surgery on one and hand and probably needing it on the other so it looks like I've got a whole bunch of this stuff to get rid of. It's a complete engine so was thinking about doing the other three cylinders, building it and selling it complete. I have a set of Baker 50cc offset chamber heads and a set of rods Racer balanced for it also.

Thanks for the offer, but wife and kid take precedence over my discretionary funds right now. :D:cool:
